Queens Library Named 2009 Library of the Year by Library JournalYou can judge a book: Queens Library is Named the Best in the Nation

The Queens Library, the biggest in the nation in terms of circulation, has just been named the best as well. This well-deserved distinction comes from Library Journal, whose judges were so impressed that they named the Queens system Library of the Year. How great is that?

With 62 locations open six days a week, the Queens Library serves a community some 2.2 million strong. Its seven Adult Learning Centers and two Family Literacy Centers help build reading skills in people of all ages. The library’s New Americans Program encourages library use by new immigrants – particularly appropriate in the nation’s most ethnically diverse county.

The Library of the Year designation is a high and fitting honor. Daily News
NYLA has produced an advocacy radio ad to promote the passage of library budgets.
Please contact Michael Borges at director@nyla.org if you would like to use the radio spot in your area.

Online Career Center
NYLA provides one-stop shopping for information about library careers, internships, jobs, mentors, scholarships, library and information science schools, etc.
Organizational members can list job openings on our JOBline for free for 30 days, non-members pay $45. Internship listings are also free and we welcome members to serve as mentors or contribute information on scholarships or other information that would add content and relevant information to the site. Visit www.nyla.organd click Online Career Center.
